Field Trips
The following is the list of planned events for our third grade year. More field trips may be organized at a later date.
- ReCreate - on-site field trip September 20.
- Touch of Understanding - on-site field trip May 1
- Maidu Museum - to be determined
Field Trip Guidelines
Some field trips planned will be taken by parent drivers in personal cars. The law requires children under the age of 8 to have a car seat. Please make sure to send a booster seat with your child on field trip days if needed.
Field trip drivers must have the following:
Driver Guidelines:
Drivers are encouraged to supervise children as needed. Often drivers will act as guides given the necessary resources to enhance the learning experiences. Guidelines for each outing will be provided by the teacher. Parents should report any behavior problems or other unusual occurrences to the teacher.
Student Guidelines:
Field trip drivers must have the following:
- GRDC Volunteer form
- fingerprints on file through the district
- a current Volunteer Vehicle Usage form on file in the office (insurance that meets the district coverage limits) Paperwork needs to be in the office two weeks before the trip. This requires a copy of your insurance declarations page and driver's license.
Driver Guidelines:
- All riders must have a separate seat belt, and children must not be positioned behind an airbag
- Do not bring siblings or guests on the field trip
- Follow the designated route to and from the field trip
- Make no stops for snacks, lunch, gas, etc., unless it is a planned part of the trip itinerary.
- Stay with the children you are transporting the entire time.
- No smoking in or out of the car for the duration of the trip.
- All children must be returned to Mariemont unless prior written arrangements have been made with the teacher.

Student Guidelines:
- Wear a seat belt while riding in the car
- Use soft, low voices in quiet conversations (no yelling or screaming!)
- Stay with your group during the entire field trip, or as directed by the teacher
- No roughhousing or silly play in the car
- Listen quietly to speakers, stand with the adult to whom you are assigned
- Failure to complete homework assignments and/or severe misbehaviors may result in the loss of field trip privileges.
- Failure to follow the above rules may result in the exclusion from future field trips at the discretion of the teacher.
